also lolol i was absolutely fine before the play and during it but like half an hour after it finished i went to pieces and had to call caitlin to rant at her about how im not okay. like text wasnt going to cut it i had to call her

whoo, so this hostel we’re staying at has a computer i can use so here i am with a quick review of the tempest

it. was. brilliant. oh gosh the girl who played miranda - incredible. i hope she gets far, she’s really something special. brilliant comedic timing. fantastic mannerism. beautiful angel.

and colin - so you know he’s been feeling not well lately, which was why he wasn’t leaving through the stage door today as usual and as the rest of the cast, there was a black car with dark tinted windows for him to take him home or wherever (boy’s a star), so we did not have a chance to ask him for an autograph or anything - they told us he needs to go get some rest because he’s really sick

but god damn i was barely able to tell from his performance he was ill - just his voice got a bit of a hoarse edge in places but he made it a part of the character, it did not seem out of place. it was most noticeable in his singing part but really not much, he just sounded a tad tired i thought. but he still gave put everything into his performance. i mean, the boy did a fucking cartwheel at one point, he kept running and jumping around, definitely most physically active character

but gosh he killed it. he was fantastic. he’s such a professional - there was a part when Stephano and Caliban broke a prop and Ariel was in the scene, in the background. Everyone in the audience was in pieces, Stephano and Caliban brilliantly incorporated the mishap into the play but were obviously amused by it - and i was watching colin during that part to see if maybe the corners of his mouth will start twitching and no, he did not break the character not even for a second, not a muscle moved in his face, he was Ariel through and through

and at the end, when the play was over, he still appeared so absolutely happy at being able to perform, so full of energy. i especially enjoyed the happy smiles he and roger alam exchanged then, it was clear they love working together :))
